Globally Stable Quasistatic Evolution for Strain Gradient Plasticity Coupled with Damage

چکیده
We consider evolutions for a material model which couples scalar damage with strain gradient plasticity, in small strain assumptions. For strain gradient plasticity, we follow the Gurtin-Anand formulation [19]. The aim of the present model is to account for different phenomena: on the one hand the elastic stiffness reduces and the plastic yield surface shrinks due to material’s degradation, on the other hand the dislocation density affects the damage growth. The main result of this paper is the existence of a globally stable quasistatic evolution (in the socalled energetic formulation). Furthermore we study the limit model as the strain gradient terms tend to zero. Under stronger regularity assumptions, we show that the evolutions converge to the ones for the coupled elastoplastic–damage model studied in [8].

Globally Stable Quasistatic Evolution for a Coupled Elastoplastic–damage Model
We show the existence of globally stable quasistatic evolutions for a rateindependent material model with elastoplasticity and incomplete damage, in small strain assumptions. The main feature of our model is that the scalar internal variable which describes the damage affects both the elastic tensor and the plastic yield surface. It is also possible to require that the history of plastic strain...
متن کاملQuasi-static Evolution for a Model in Strain Gradient Plasticity
We prove the existence of a quasistatic evolution for a model in strain gradient plasticity proposed by Gurtin and Anand concerning isotropic, plastically irrotational materials under small deformations. This is done by means of the energetic approach to rate-independent evolution problems. Finally we study the asymptotic behavior of the evolution as the strain gradient length scales tend to ze...
متن کاملGlobally stable quasistatic evolution in plasticity with softening
We study a relaxed formulation of the quasistatic evolution problem in the context of small strain associative elastoplasticity with softening. The relaxation takes place in spaces of generalized Young measures. The notion of solution is characterized by the following properties: global stability at each time and energy balance on each time interval. An example developed in detail compares the ...

The coupled damage/plasticity model for meso-level which is ply-level in case of Uni-Directional (UD) Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs) is implemented. The mathematical formulations, particularly the plasticity part, are discussed in a comprehensive manner. The plastic potential is defined in effective stress space and the damage evolution is based on the theory of irreversible thermodynamics. T...
